Traditional, Self, Hybrid or Vanity Publishers?

This is the million dollar question on every authors lips and a very controversial topic. So let’s break it down. You have a variety of options today to get your book published, I’ll mention a few:
1. Traditional Publishers
2. Self Publishing
3. Hybrid Publishing
4. Vanity Publishing

I could describe each one to you in detail but it all boils down to what your expectations are.

Is it all about profit, fame, awards? Or is it something on your bucket list, a dream, a goal? No matter what the answer is everyone expects something, so the first thing you have to decide is what that is. Once you have done this then you can research which option best suits your expectations. For me it was a dream to see my book in print. I wanted to give it to my daughter for her 18th birthday. So knowing this I chose a Hybrid Publishing company. I partnered with them to achieve my goal. I did pay an agreed amount of money. I had full control of the publishing process, I own the copyright and receive 25% royalties in book sales. I was able to sit back, have full control of the outcome while a team of professionals did all the hard work for me. I was skeptical at first like everyone is because of all the chatter, but decided to trust the process. And boy am I glad I did. I can honestly rate my experience a 9/10, because there is always room for improvement right. Just Google my book and it’s everywhere and I didn’t lift a finger just a few $. By the way if there is anyone out there that can tell me they didn’t spend a cent on their published book and it is selling, I’d love to talk to them. I didn’t expect and never expected to become rich out of this venture, yet I might. I was realistic with my expectations, which have been met and now time will tell if my expectation exceed my wildest dreams.
