There’s something so powerful about this image of the Armour of God. It’s not just a picture of strength, it’s a reminder that we are never walking through life unprotected.
Looking at each piece, the helmet, the breastplate, the shield, the sword, it paints such a beautiful picture of how God equips us daily. Not with physical armour, but with truth, faith, peace, righteousness, salvation, and His Word. Everything we need, already given.
It brings back the sweetest memories for me.
When my children were younger, every single morning on the drive to school, the four of us would “put on the Armour of God” together. Out loud. Without fail. It became part of our routine, just like packing lunches or fastening seatbelts.
We would say it piece by piece
Helmet of salvation
Breastplate of righteousness
Belt of truth
Shield of faith
Sword of the Spirit
Shoes of peace
And as we spoke it, we believed it.
Those weren’t just words. They were protection. They were comfort. They were a covering over my children as I dropped them off into a world I couldn’t control. As a mum, that mattered more than anything.
I didn’t always know what their day would hold, friendships, challenges, fears, or uncertainties, but I knew this… they weren’t going in alone.
God was with them.
Looking back now, I realise it wasn’t just about protection, it was about planting something deeper. Faith. Identity. Trust. It was teaching them that no matter where they go in life, they can call on God and stand strong in Him.
Even now, those moments stay with me. Simple, ordinary car rides that became something sacred.
This image is a beautiful reminder that we can still do the same today. No matter our age, our season, or our struggles, we can wake up each day and choose to put on the Armour of God.
Because life will always bring battles.
But we were never meant to face them unarmed.
