Let Your light Shine

I have always taught my children to have a spirit of excellence, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 5:14–16.)

Saying this, I have always encouraged a PJ day in the school holidays. This was the most exciting day of our holidays. We got to stay at home, watch movies, hang out, not worry about a thing, and go straight back to bed at night. We would giggle throughout the day like we were being rebels, ha ha. Sometimes you need days where you don’t have to perform, you just have to be.

Never compare your abilities, works, gifts with anyone else. You are unique in every way. No one else has what you have. Remember the famous quote from the movie, When Harry met Sally, “I’ll have what she’s having”? Well, don’t let envy side track you off your own path. Find your own light and don’t let anyone blow it out. ‘You may think your light is small, but it can make a huge difference in other people’s lives.’
